The California Department of Conservation hosts the Waterbird Habitat Project!
Sharing our mission to protect wildlife along the American River, we highlighted how discarded fishing gear—lures, hooks, line, and weights—poses risks to waterbirds, turtles, beavers, otters and other river wildlife through ingestion or entanglement, often leading to injury or death.
Our initiative raises awareness about these environmental hazards and promotes clean rivers to support thriving ecosystems. By reporting abandoned fishing gear or injured wildlife, you can help keep our rivers flowing safely!
Join us in making a difference—report gear and protect our waterbirds and wildlife today!
