Protecting Waterbirds and Wildlife
Discarded fishing gear in the waters and along the shores of the American River pose a serious threat to waterbirds and the other wildlife that live there. Founded in 2023, the Waterbird Habitat Project collaborates with anglers and local communities to retrieve abandoned fishing gear from the American River, raise awareness about its impact on wildlife, and promote stewardship of the river ecosystem.
